McCutcheon v. FEC Rally

In Government on April 2, 2014 at 8:13 pm

The Supreme Court’s McCutcheon vs FEC ruling came down today. Many are calling it Citizens United 2.0. Once again, the Supreme Court has betrayed democracy. The McCutcheon ruling allows individuals to directly contribute up to $3.6 million per election cycle to a single party and its candidates.  Joining democracy activists around the country in a rapid response event,  local activists held a rally today in downtown Syracuse at 5:00pm at the State Office Building 333 East Washington Street in Syracuse, NY

Today’s ruling permits a handful of the very wealthiest Americans to corrupt democracy through massive campaign contributions. The ruling blatantly puts democracy up for sale to the ultra-wealthy, leaving everyday citizens – who might give $20 or $40 to a candidate they support – without a voice.

Move to Amend will next meet on Thursday April 17th at 7 pm, at 2013 East Genesee Street (The Syracuse Center for Peace and Social Justice), the public is invited.
